Life in New London: Photos from the Plyoneer

The American Plywood Corporation existed in New London from 1919 to 1983. For a time in the 1940s and 1950s Harry Heinrich, company photographer, published the Plyoneer, a company newsletter. He took photos of employees, products, as well as life in and around our community. He donated over 700 negatives to the museum after the plant closed. For years these sat in the archives.

Now with a generous grant from the Friends of the New London Public Museum the negatives have been scanned and properly stored. There are many more steps in the process of cataloging and making these images accessible. But we just couldn’t wait to share some of them with you! The exhibit will run through 2026. We will change photos throughout the year, so there will always be a chance to Discover Something New!
