The purpose of the New London Public Museum is to preserve and  promote our community’s natural, native and historical culture for the benefit of the public.

What's Happening at the Muse?

Temporarily Closed
The New London Public Museum is TEMPORARILY Closed until Tuesday, June 9th while the library moves to their new location. We will reopen on Tuesday June 9th at 10am. Our new hours will be Tues-Fri 10am-5pm & Sat 10am-1pm.
Indoor Mini-Golf Events at the Muse
The museum will be hosting a fun indoor event: Indoor Mini-Golf! On Friday, June 12th & Saturday, June 13th, from 10am-1pm, there will be fun for the whole family with Family Indoor Mini-Golf. Ages 5-17 are $3 each, and ages 18+ are $5 each. Cash Only. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On Friday, June 12th, from 6pm-9pm will be Date Night Mini-Golf at the Muse with Events Everlasting. Advance Tickets are $20 per couple, at the door are $30 per couple. Cost of tickets for Date Night include desserts & coffee with a Cash Mocktail Bar,

Life in New London: Photos from the Plyoneer
The American Plywood Corporation existed in New London from 1919 to 1983. In the 1940s and 1950s, Harry Heinrich, published the Plyoneer, a company newsletter. He took photos around our community. He donated over 700 negatives to the museum. For years, these sat in the archives. With a generous grant from the Friends of the New London Public Museum, the negatives have been scanned and properly stored. We are working to make these images accessible, currently in a rotating exhibit that will run through 2026. We will change photos throughout the year, so there will always be a chance to Discover Something New!

Edison and Simmons: The Evolution of Juvenile Furniture
With a history of manufacturing furniture for over 100 years, Edison and later Simmons Furniture has strong ties to New London. Located in our Local History Exhibit, come see furniture pieces locally made, including phonograph cabinets, combo dresser units, a high chair with a fun story, along with other pieces and photographs.

Milk Condensing, Cheese Production and Cold Storage
From National Condensing, Borden's, Saputo Cheese and now Hilker Warehousing, see the history of the largest condensing and later cheese factory in New London. Learn about the importance of Milk Condensing and how, with the ongoing efforts of our local farmers and dedicated employees, New London became the Swiss Cheese Capital of the World!
